Dr. Hansen is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery. He graduated from the University of Utah Medical School in 2005. Prior to medical school, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Utah in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. He completed orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Utah in 2010, and went on to complete a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction of the hip and knee at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina in 2011.
During his fellowship training at Duke, he performed many complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement procedures. He received advanced training in the anterior approach for hip replacement as well as hip arthroscopy for hip preservation. He has been active in orthopedic research and has published articles related to the anterior approach for hip replacement and hip joint preservation.
Although he has a specialty interest in total joint replacements, he also provides surgical treatment for fractures and sports related injuries. He has served as a team physician for Wasatch High School and Juan Diego High School.
During residency and fellowship he has participated in many education conferences and courses. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
Dr. Hansen is a Utah native and grew up in the Heber Valley. During his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife, Brooke, and sons Tyler and Chase. He enjoys skiing, golfing, fishing, horseback riding, and exercising.
As a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon, my goal is to provide the highest quality orthopaedic care available today. I recognize my essential role as a teacher and educator for patients, and aim to provide a clear understanding of their diagnosis and treatment options. Patients will receive very personalized care with direct access to me for answering questions and receiving instruction.
